NRC Set: Determines the communication and keyboard character set. This is a 7-bit character set within which a number of the less commonly used symbols ( # @ [ \ ] ^ ) are replaced by national characters. Different countries use different variants of this character set. For example, Germany replaces the \ with Ö, while France replaces the same character with ç. Each country therefore has its own NRC.
UPS Set: Determines the communication and keyboard character set for 8-Bit data only. Select one of the available languages. You can assign the supplemental character set you use most often as a special standby set. This standby set is called the user-preferred supplemental set (UPS Set). This feature provides applications with an easy way to access the user's preferred supplemental set.
8 bit Controls (only for UPS Set value "Code Page xxx"): If the communicated data is in 8-bit character format, check this parameter. For 7-bit characters, clear this parameter. If this parameter is cleared, the 8th bit is truncated.
If you receive 7-bit data, you can convert it to 8-bit data for printing on the slave printer.
